Catching a breath!

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

First off, I want to thank everyone who has purchased a book. I have already had order more, which is exciting! If you haven’t checked it out, check out the Press Release on the Home page. Jenny Bohler did an incredible job, which is why she’s one of the best publicists in the business.

Over the past week, I have been flooded with calls to come speak to organizations about my book. If you are in the Nashville Area, you can come to Indie Connect’s (indieconnect.net) meeting as a guest on December 28th. It is $5 to get in. I will speake about my book and take questions. The location is Corky’s BBQ Restaurant in Brentwood.

We are also working on doing a book signing here in Franklin, TN. There are a few locations in the running, but we will probably do only 1 this month and it will be before Christmas. Please email me and let me know if this is something you may like to come too!

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind. Traveling a bunch, doing TV and award shows. Even had a chance to fly my wife out to LA and we snuck off to wine country and did the “Sideways” tour. Wineries based off the movie, “Sideways.” What beautiful country!

This week we are at home base, and I plan on recording the audio book for “25 Notes for the Successful Musician.” We’ve had many requests for the audio version. It should be available soon.

Once again, thank you all for the support! Means the world to me. If you have any questions, thoughts, smart remarks, you can always write in the Reply box below.

Til Next Time!!

Chad Jeffers

Kingsport Brothers Make a Living Playing Music behind Some Of Nashville’s Biggest Stars. Story by Doug Janz – Press Tempo Writer.

They’re the guys who help make the country stars sound good. Look behind Carrie Underwood or off to the side of Joe Nichols, and you’ll find Chad or Michael Jeffers, laying down solos or keeping the beat. The two brothers, originally from Kingsport, have defied the odds and made themselves successful careers in music. Both are on the short list of top musicians who can get a call from the big stars for touring or recording slots. They’ve recently made some high-profile appearances: Underwood and her band, with Chad on guitar, played at the Grammy’s and on “Saturday Night Live,” while Nichols was on the late-night talk shows of both Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien with Michael playing bass. “We’re the guys you see for a second, and even then you have to know we’re there to notice,” Michael said with a laugh, but added, “We’re blessed; we’re very fortunate to be able to do this.”

Chad JeffersFirst off, Thanks to all of you who have been sending me messages about my upcoming birthday (Nov. 19th). The past few weeks have been very busy being on the road, but it has been great meeting Carrie Underwood Fans and hearing from Keith Urban Fans (since she is going to be on tour with him). Really makes me feel good!!

As I write this, I’m in Oklahoma City about to do a Celebration concert for PBS. Don’t think I’ve ever done anything with PBS, so it should be fun!

Also want to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving. I know in my life, I have so much to be thankful for!! Looking forward to spending time with my family and then the morning after shove off to Lake Tahoe area to do some dates with Kenny Loggins (which is my ‘other’ family!)

As we approach Dec., I look forward to spending time with my amazing wife and dog. Also, I’ll be working on my other projects that are currently in progress. Looking forward to getting them back on my ‘radar’, as some of the projects have been neglected.

Keep the comments/messages coming and hope to see you on the road soon!!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Hello to you my friend!!!

iraqI NEED YOUR HELP! So life has been a bit crazy. I’ve been doing double time with Loggins and Carrie Underwood. Seems simple, but it gets hectic, as they don’t really take into consideration my schedule, so I have to be creative and make things work. So as I travel in the coming weeks, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we’ll be putting on some miles (all I can say…”frequent flier”). But it does go a bit deeper than that, because much of it is by land. Some of my family members are worried that I’ve taken on too much, but it is only for a short period of time.

Recently, I was in New York City doing TV with Carrie. Most would think TV is easy and quick…it is the total end of the spectrum. We performed on Good Morning America, Regis and Kelly, and CBS early show. All of which are very early times. It is sometimes hard to get the mind/hand coordination working that early. Everything is RUSH RUSH RUSH…..then you have to be quiet…then it is “you’ve got 2 minutes”…well it’s 2 minutes to run a song that is 3 min. 30 sec. So we run the song…then it is quiet mouse… then we go away from the stage to the green room, only to return about 30 min. later and have 1 min. to tune and be ready to go….then we hear, “standby..5,4,3,2,1″ and the cameras are on and we play. So for the past 2 or 3 hours, is this total build up to something you don’t ever really feel ready for. So just have some pity on those who are not good in front of the camera. But with Carrie, and her group, we had some really magical performances. You always hope that the performance will translate thru the air waves and into the homes across the world.

Carrie (CU) did the Opry a few times in the past couple of weeks. She was stellar. My first time playing with her was on a tuesday and we recorded a tune for an upcoming album. She nailed it! I had missed all of her rehearsals, because I was out of the country on the USO tour in Iraq. So many of the first performances, I was walkin’ in cold, not even knowing most of the band…much less playing with them. But as Nashville goes, everyone was so professional and prepared.

Believe it or not, I’ve also been doing a lot of writing. I’m getting what is known as a “hold”, which means the artist/producer/label/grandma really digs the song and maybe wants to record it and put on their next album. It is always fun, but even better after they “cut” it…which means records the tune.

I’m still writing on the book and can’t believe how slow it is going. I have Nov. and Dec. a bit open, so I have blocked some time to write as well as start a new studio project. THIS IS WHERE I NEED YOUR HELP: I’m planning on recording a instrumental/studio album and having some top notch players come in and play on it. But here’s the guidelines…the player will cowrite (maybe even coproduce) the song and also play on the record. It will likely be just that person and me. Very intimate, “vibey”recording. No show off licks, very melodic…so much that your mom will love it! I’d like to know who you’d like for me to record with. I have already gotten confirmation from a few musicians that really gets me jazzed. But I wanna hear from you. Either email me thru the website or thru the myspace page myspace.com/sebastianjeffers!

Well, I’m going to sign off for now…as I’m on my way to meet up with Loggins. Monday (10/29), we’ll be on Leno and Tuesday (I think) we’ll be on Ellen! Hope you can tune in!

Best

Hello to you my friend!!!

iraqHope this message finds you in good health and spirits. It has been too long since I’ve checked in, so here is the update.

I’m still touring with Kenny Loggins and in the coming months, I’ll be with Carrie Underwood. She is doing pretty much every tv show that is aired. We already did the Opry on their 82nd birthday. What an amazing experience! I’ve played the Opry many times, but that night was very special.

I’m STILL working on my book. The last couple of weeks have been very busy for me, so, unfortunately, it has taken a back seat. But I have been writing a lot of songs.

Was able to hang out with my good friend, Jimmy Olander. Diamond Rio just released a Christmas album that Jimmy co-produced and of course is the guitarist for the band. If you get a chance, check it out… it is some of their best work! These days I’m also listening to the new Radiohead album. Saw Mat Kearney here in Nashville the other night…stellar gig!

Besides that, it is business as usual!

Thank you for all writing in and coming out and seeing the shows! Always love seeing you!!

Cheers

~Chad J.
