Rockin’ out a Stadium of 50,000 plus!

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Tonight was an amazing night. We performed in front of about 50,000 folks in Provo, UT, Stadium of Fire on the BYU campus. It was also taped for our brave men and women in the Armed Forces. The crowd was on their feet, weather was beautiful, and we definitely delivered. Before walking onto the stage tonight, I thought back of growing up and wondering what it would be like to play to a sold out stadium crowd. Fortunately, throughout my career, I’ve been able to do it quite a bit, but tonight seemed so much more special.
When you pursue music as a career choice, you never know where it may take you or the people you may meet. Plus as a musician, you get to do things that ‘normal’ folks may not get to do. Landing on aircraft carriers, touring war zones, traveling to interesting countries, and sometimes touring heavily secured areas where civilians aren’t allowed.
What I’m trying to say, if you want to pursue music, there are so many perks that come with it. It is so amazing to share you music with folks around the country and also even different cultures abroad.
Growing up, I practiced all the time. While all of my friends where out playing basketball, I was practicing. When they were running up and down the street in a new hot rod, I was practicing. When they were getting wasted on the weekends, I was practicing (or out performing). Like most everything in life, you have to make sacrifices. However, the rewards are great and plentiful. Nothing is a guarantee, but if you aren’t ready when the time comes, the opportunity will pass you by.

Is your Music still in you?

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Not too long ago, I was out to lunch with author Dan Miller. Before we left, he gave me a magnet with a dove and his quote, “Is your music still in you?” Of course, “Music” can be for musos, but it can also mean your ‘passion.’ For some reason, it really hit me and had me wondering… if my music was still in me. This lunch meeting was around the time my book was coming out. Not knowing ‘how’ the book would do, I went with my faith. Since then, I’ve been guest hosting podcasts, giving speeches, and getting calls from around the country to come to schools and talk about the book. Recently, a prominent literary manager sat down with me to give me pointers. It opened up a whole new world for me!!
Over the past few days, I’ve a few sessions that have really energized me. This is the first time working all 3 of these clients, so it is refreshing to meet new folks and play new tunes. And from out of the blue, I get a call from Gary Burr to help him on a live date here in town. As many times as I have played around town, THAT was a fun phone call to get!!
Over the past few days, I’ve had plenty of time to reflect. I went back and listened to 2009’s songs that I have written. Even the ones that I know will never get cut, still get excited.
Dan’s magnet is on our refrigerator door. It is a constant reminder that regardless of where you are on your journey, the question is always valid, “Is your Music still in you?”

Please keep the questions coming and let me know if there is any subject that you would like for me to blog about.

Happy New Year!

Hello to you all!   Life is very exciting right now!!  25 Notes for the Successful Musician is complete and we are gearing up to get out to the masses.  There will be an audio book coming soon.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped me on the book.  I tell ya folks, it takes a “village” to get something like this done.  I can’t believe how challenging it was, but it was worth every minute of it.

As you can tell, chadjeffers.com has a new look to it. Many thanks to Melissa Behring and her crew for doing a great job!

Besides writing the book, I have been keeping very busy in songwriting, recording, and of course touring.

I will be blogging more in the future.  In the meantime, if you ever have any questions please drop me a line in the reply box below.

Best

Chad J.
